Latinos are majority mestizos, but not all Latinos are mestizos.
In Latin America there is black / chinese / native / white / turkish people… and they’re all latinos.
Racism might not be actually the same in LatinAmerica as is in USA, but antiblackness is still prevalent, so is discrimination towards native / Romani / Asian / Jewish people, mestizos and so on.
Colorism is real, and white and white-passing people have privilege over dark-skinned people.
Xenophobia is real, and it won’t be hard to heard of the discriminations Bolivians face in Argentina, or Peruvians in Chile (these cases also affected be racism).
White people have white privilege even in places where they’re a minority.

WHAT labor? I see my landlord once a month, when I have to fork over rent. My landlord is not a member of our community. My landlord is not involved in the maintenance of the property beyond commanding someone else to repair broken appliances or cut the grass, and usually my landlord doesn’t even do that–one of the office assistants sends out those orders.
All my landlord does is sit in the office and send minions after impoverished tenants who live in fear of the streets and are about one to two paychecks away from being homeless.

I really don’t care if your personal landlord is good to you, I care that landlords as a class of people have significant power over people living in abject poverty.
Landlords should not exist in the first place.
Housing should not be controlled by people able and willing to cast vulnerable people out into the streets.
Landlords are not my fellow worker. Landlords are not my comrades. Landlords should not exist in the first goddamn place.

pandemic addition! i’ve seen a lot of people talk about how they like wearing masks because they feel anonymous/not perceived/”like a ninja” and i know a lot of muslim women have discussed the irony behind mandating masks while banning niqabs, but i better not hear anyone talk about being uncomfortable with niqabis when this is over.
